I may not know exactly what this song means, but it does bring up memories of an ex of mine. She introduced me to the concept of polyamory, and it started off well. But eventually, she started taking more and more partners without even so much as an "Is this okay?" and some of said partners were my best friends in the world. She still kept taking more and more partners, even after I asked if she had enough. "One too many is never enough" should be her motto. And the one that killed me was the one that I loved. Not anymore. So, maybe it could relate to that. Maybe the artist had a similar experience. Likely not, but one may hope.
