Apart from being a city in Iowa, Des Moines is actually a translated as 'of monks' in French. This song has a lot to do with prayer and how many people try and fake their way through it because the don't truly believe in God. They only pray for show and not out of want to feel connected to God. This accomplishes nothing and demonstrates the point that some words are useless. People that do this have more earthly values than divine ones and Mike (I believe that's who wrote this song) is trying to show them their earthly possessions mean nothing. He's also saying how fake people are and how our innocence is lost because of it. The cycle goes on and there's nothing that can stop it. But back to my original point, monks obviously spend a lot of time praying and the title is saying that's really cool. I figure this because of the 'z' at the end of Des instead of a 's', which makes it seem cooler. They also live with very meager possessions and are the epitome of the ideal person as far as this song goes.
I hope this review helps out everyone who reads it.
