This song is essentially about how he trusted and loved someone unconditionally. Then the person basically did something horrible to him-I think the mistake mentioned is not his own. After that, the loss was so devastating that he can't get it out of his mind-it's all he thinks about. Now he is completely different afterward-like he lost part of himself. Now he hopes for the day to come, that whoever it was will realize their terrible mistake, and just what they did to him. Then he is asking for whoever it is to give him some sort closure-so that he can finally figure out to carry on with his life.
