Cobaltshadow's meaning is just a basic and literal interpretation of the actual lyrics, not what they represent.
And I think that the song generally gives the feeling that Adam (or whatever fictional character he's personifying) really just needs to get away for awhile, so he boards a bus in the busy city, enjoying his ride and the view from the window. Feeling lost among the people of the crowded city, he begins to wonder who would even notice if he's gone. When he arrives somewhere outside the city, he feels so much better now that he's at a calm place with a good friend, he doesn't want to leave.
