So no one has discussed the references to 911 like "who will i be when i wake up to a stranger on a passenger plane" like we're all still in "permanent jet lag" because 911 changed the world. Then he totally attacks Bush for continuing the "war his dad rehearsed" and coming "back with flags on coffins" and saying "we won". Meanwhile we are still at war and in the end he talks about having "enough miles on his car to fly the boys home"! This is a great political song but the upbeat tempo and delivery disguises the underlying meaning and tone perfectly. I love it! Oh and I also love that brandon from Panic! Guests on the track!

I think it's talking about the afterlife and wether we go to hell or heaven and if there are such things. He's using Cars and racing references to illustrate the race through life. "Hell or glory, I don't want anything inbetween" then I think he might be talking about jesus and god with "then came a baby boy with long eyelashes (jesus) and daddy (god) said you gotta show the world the thunder" (show the world the light).
