The song is simply about a relationship that has come to a point. Where they either move forward or break up. Its about fighting(the passion) its about thoughts of breaking up(the pain) and its simply about the comfort of having someone(I wrap my arms around your naked shoulders.)
Your probably right petete about "silver blue" meaning waiting for someone to love you back. He's just waiting for a smile, to know that their relationship still has something.

Think of the kings and queens as adam and eve, or maybe just humanity itself. If your looking to relate to the song. Its about falling from grace, or losing yourself, and having A long way to go to get back to your former glory. It is about the realization that you have a long way to go, but are willing to fight to be a "king and queen," again.
