The song is about a young man who is saying farewell to his girlfriend because he has been drafted and he's decided to evade the draft by fleeing to another country. The various stanzas describe the country, his relationship with his girlfriend, the government, the enemy and the support from the nearby countries, the contrast between the "winners" and "losers" in war, and, finally, the man's decision to evade the draft.
