"we had it all in front of us. YOU WERE THE ONE. I was in love" He was in love with her; or some one in the band was in love with a girl, and she kept hurting him and he had no one else to love so he kept going back to her. I often find it happens the other way, like the girl getting hurt multiple times. : P
