I see this from a different perspective. I take it that she's loved before but had it ripped from her (like from a divorce) so she built walls to protect her from being vulnerable again. Now she's found someone who she cares for and is willing to put her trust in again - iow, she feels she can give love a second chance. When you find someone like this, you think they're an angel and they proectect you. So that's why the Halo and light comments. At least, that's what it means to me. :)
