Its about America and our American way of life, our freedom as Americans and our you. S. Constitution being ignored. The you. S. Is our "Baby" and we need too stand up and speak out when the government passes new laws and regulations that go against what we as Americans believe in. The song has to do with 9/11, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and how America is changing. If America changes too much with these new regulations, laws and foreign policies, then America as we know it will not stay American.
I think that's what Dave Matthews was talking about in that song.
