Isn't it obvious? They're both singing about the pressure of being in the limelight, of the paparazzi, who peek in the shadows, scrutinize everything they do, make up lies about them to sell magazines and photos, just the public eye in general and what the media does to people like the jacksons just to make a quick buck. It's about what they have to go thru as pop stars, but also about the sick, perverse fascination the media has with bad news, and the terrible lengths they will go to create stories that sell.
