Personally I think his girl has a past and a life that she doesent want to face because she is depressed and afraid that things will never get better so she medicates herself with painkillers to get rid of all her pain but he wants her to see that life will get better because he is here to be her strength and help her a little bit every day to kick her addiction and enjoy life with him I think he met her and fell in love with her after all of these things happened to her and she was already addicted but he doesn't want her to want to die and kill herself from her problems because she is his heaven and he will die if she does.
