Grantaire, in the book, is a fighter who is always drunk, all the time. He is kind of a drunken guy the whole time, but at his death he dies with Enjolras, bravely.
The fact that the time is near is making the men super riled up. They seriously are getting stirred up, excited, crazy, and that is what Enjolras is trying to say her, I think.
