I think its about a small child who is wandering around(dust circles made by objects that were taken away and left the ring of undusted portion under the object.), learning the ways of the world (people crossing the aisles of the courtroom are placed to mean "the streets where people rest their heads heavy.) and also(oily marks appear on walls = little kids get hands dirty, then it was wiped off). Then, his parents get divorced, and he doesn't really get it.(ransom notes = notes/ papers claiming custody.) But he still knows something isn't right and that it isn't fair(mmm whatcha say. Mm what did she say? = the child not being able 2 understand going from having both parents to just one or one at a time and doesn't believe that couldn't care because they both agreed not 2 c each other.) I do, however, agree with the holocaust thing. Very suitable.
