In my opinion the artist was trying to get across what it feels like switching from adolescence into adulthood, how it isn't all it's cracked up to be. The artist is telling the girl that he has an escape plan, a place for just the two of them, Neverland where you never grow up and you can live the youthful life you want.

They left us alone, the kids in the dark
To burn out forever, or light up the spark.
We come together, state of the art
I think this line is saying we were shut out, ignored, neglected and hidden inside of the dark room within us. It feels like the force put into hiding us is apart of a certain test to show what we're made of and how big of a light we can shine in order to make ourselves seen and heard. It can also mean we rely on ourselves to light up the world and become someone, get past where we are. Once we all have our light we are together a master piece.

Beautiful scars on critical veins
I think the phrase "beautiful scars" does not just portray physical scars put in place due to self harm. I think the phrase is used to show the scars, yes, on the outside but also the scars within us, the ones no one ever sees. In my opinion "beautiful scars" also goes for those of us whose scars manifested over time, after years of suffering through judgment and pain. These scars will forever be there on our hearts and on our minds our "critical veins".
