I'm pretty sure this is a reference to being molested by a child.
"Playing with the wolves" being working in the adult world.
"But you sleep with the bones of a rabbit" could mean the child, who now feels dead inside.
"I was only a child / It makes no sense" could just be expanding on that, because in the eyes of the child (and most of the rest of the world) it doesn't make any sense as to why an adult would sexually prey on a child like that.
