According to some, "Tutti frutti" was slang for a promiscuous gay man, The original version rhymed Tutti frutti with "loosy booty" which of course was considered obscene for a pop song at the time, much more coming from an African American artist, so they removed those lyrics. Little Richard performed the original version live, though, when the occasion was right.
