During the 1960's the tyrant dictator of Haiti "Papa Doc Duvalier" tried to curry favour with his Voodoo worshipping people, by encouraging them to believe that he was "Baron Samedi", the Voodoo spirit of the dead. And the song is 10CC's take on the late "Papa" suggesting that his spiritual status conferred upon the "papa" immortality of at least 1000 years. The second half of the song makes numerous references to the rituals (some sacrificial) notorious in Voodoo culture.
