See now the official version is that it's a song about someone breaking into an old house inhabited by ghosts.
My version is that it is someone being admitted to an Old Folks Home by the sea - check out the lyrics and you'll see what I mean!
E.g. - scenes of unimportance, photos in a frame - old photos that the people in the home have of family, or a deceased spouse.
Sit down sit down.
Cos you won't get away.
No with us you will stay.
For the rest of your days.
Sit down.
Sounds like an old folks home to me!
