Yes I agree with all of the above. I see the "fairies" as the rudimentary elements of the earth before humans came into existence and abused their natural properties to make it more comfortably inhabitable for ourselves and our selfishness thinking we know best. In the end it kills us and we all perish. The entire song from start to finish is each one of us watching the start of the elements shaping into what will eventually become us humans to where we are towards the end of our short lives. Now that we are gone the elements try to return to their natural state but we have done irreversible damage. Mother Nature never fought back because she was never made to. She never had to before us humans abused her love. We are sent to the stars from which we had (forgotten) we came from only to watch the world die as we start to remember how it was before, during, and at the bitter end of our inhabitant (and murder) of Mother earth. God, the author of these lyrics is pure genius. Each sentence is just a metaphor for human emotion, corruption, and the beauty in our basic structures that we never saw nor appreciated.
