This song is about someone who witnessed a rape down by the steam, which could have been his friend or his girlfriend. He didn't do anything to stop it and now she is feeling all the pain. They took her away and him not knowing where she is, is killing him inside to a point where he wishes he did something. In all honesty, if they had a gun, and he tried to save her, they would have shot him, and she would have been taken anyway.

This is about a women who can't leave her husband because. He abuses here and that us is why she stares at the clock. When he comes home, she tells him what he wants to hear. I think he abuses her so she thinks that she won't get anything better than him, so she stays. She finally runs away, but realizes, she can't and goes home for more abuse.
