I believe this song is about a girl who is in love with a guy who has shown interest or possible feelings but she knows he wont change his mind but is hoping for a chance that is why she asks that question, I believe the metaphor of Ashes and Wine is ashes is an end product to fire and wine symbolizes the drunkeness of love and desperation and high you feel when you drink wine.
