A soldier is looked upon and admired by his public for his courage and the benefits it has attached to his position as a warrior and a protector of their safety - but, once he has died in battle for their king and country - they look upon his legacy as still heroic on the life he led. And, much like the verse "the king is dead - long live the king" their lives may not have changed much., or, maybe they aalways have a replacement for their safety, or maybe the soldier is sacrificial for their governent and/or king.
