This song to me is a praising and a longing for the beautiful sun. In Italy especially in Naples and the sun is simply beautiful and shines every day. My grandfather and my father sang this song often. Now I sing especially in the fall when the sun is not bright and then I miss and this song comes to mind.
I wonder if this song was written by early Italian immigrants because they all knew it and they all sang and had recordings of it that's the way it was with my family any way.
