I always believed this was a song about someone who use to live in adak alaska, where thick gray clouds covered the skies day and night about 360 days a year. In back of the barracks was a hill where we sometimes went to see if there were any stars out. But the song says upon a deck and look at them with me. But when you listen to the song it does sound like adak. (Would you like to go up on adak and take a look at them with me.) A friend pointed out the song to me one day in the barracks and ever scinse I really liked this flight log album and this song has been one of my favorites.
