I believe this song written to a lover who is already married. She refers to the oily marks left from hanging pictures of the happy family of pleasure moments. The dust is settleing from the affair. He says they were here first refering to his wife and family and she asks him, what did she say. His wife when she found out. They have to play hide and seek about their affair. Just my take on it :)
