I feel like I relate to this song so what I think it means is he can't help what hes done and he still loves her very much the same goes for her but no matter what it will never work out again because of what has happened and what their going through. See I'm in love with a guy whos always been the bad type and I've always tried to help him save himself and change but he didn't so now hes about to do life in prison but I love him so much but hate him for what hes done and he loves me still but hates me for saying I can't stay and he knows he can't ask me to be with him or wait for him because it would never work out that way so we both have to realise that no matter what we need to move on even though we still have love for each other.
