It talking about the day that Jesus was born. Mary and Joseph walked for a long time and ended up in a stable where her baby was then born. He is called the savior because he was born to preach the word of God and to try to save the earth from sin. It says night and stars because it was nighttime and the stars above were 'angels' and the brightest star helped the 3 wise men and the shepherds find Jesus.

It says this because the world was full of sin and error everywhere. Jesus was sent so that he could try to fix all the wrong. Ever since the beginning with Adam and Eve when they broke God's rules in the Garden of Eden and were led on by the snake (which represented the devil/temptation), the world was full of temptation and sin. When they were crucifying Jesus and he was dying, he called out to God and forgave everyone's sins for doing that to him.

O holy night
Its a this because it was the day the savior was born. We honor it now. It's almost like a more important Sunday, but we are supposed to go to mass on Christmas Sunday anyways. (Catholic) It also says night because in the story, it is said that Mary and Jesus walked all night long in Bethlehem to find a place for her to have her baby. In the end they ended up in a stable under the stars. That's how the wise men found them, by following the bright star.
