This is about Kurt Cobain. Look at her references to his music "On A Plain", lyrics from "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Fax machine may refer to the supposed denial by Cobain of a relationship with Lord pre-Courtney. Only problem: Courtney wrote the faxes. Most of the music on "Mary Lou Lord" (1995) is about Kurt Cobain and how she was dealing with his murder (yes, he was murdered google Tom Grant for further info.) This is a beautiful and haunting tribute to a man who could have chosen the love of a lifetime but instead chose to love a murderer. He realized too late and tried to divorce, and was murdered for it. He would still be alive today and possibly living a happy life if he chose Lord over, yeah, what's-her-name?
