This song was written after Kevin Ayers shagged Cale's wife, possibly while wearing the same short sleeved shirt referenced. John seems to be a tad annoyed by this action, and proceeded to fantasize about blowing Kevin's intestines all over the carpet with his trusty shotgun. The parrot analogy may be inspired by Ayers having grown up in Borneo.
