I think that "Over the Mountain" is a metaphor for transitioning to the afterlife, or an out-of-body experience. The "land of dreams was now" could very well be a reference to the afterlife. Riding shooting stars and traveling through an astral plane also seem indicative of some journey of the soul. Until just now, I always thought that the "Watching my body disappear into the crowd." was disappear into the "GROUND" which would pretty much wrap it up as a "life after death" meaning. Surely if you're "watching your body" your consciousness is elsewhere. I still lean toward the life after death idea. Regardless, it's an awesome song with some cool lyrics.
