It's reminiscent of war through out history from the perspective of a young soldier's emotions and thoughts of killing another in time of war. Drawing, possibly from: the War of 1812, American Revolution, Civil War or Spanish American War. The Black Angels are a band from Texas, they probably drew inspiration from Texas' war history, but for the most part, it is ambiguous, left up to listener to decide. Nonetheless, a very poetic and creative song with a sound reminiscent of the Doors, but with a new, fresh feel to it.
