Well, even I'm not a follower of Leona and Jesse, I can say that they did a fine job in their own versions of the song. But I think Jesse Mccartney did better not just for co-writing the song but also 'cause his version has a pop/dance/rock/R&B sound that can lessen the deep emotion of the song (which is good for the people who don't want to feel the hurt) but still not ruining the real meaning of the song.
But still, Leona did a good job.
