Actually, the lead singer was in a band when he was younger. They made a pact to commit suicide if they should ever break up and not make it big. He was the only one that didn't go through with the suicide pact. The song is in memory of his friends who commuted suicide and left him behind. He rarely plays it live, and when he does, all members of Meriwether leave the stage and he sings it alone in memory of his old bandmates. I literally just saw him play this song live an hour ago, only because someone in the audience kept loudly requesting it. It was the last show of the night and he looked incredibly sad singing it.
