I wrote this song after I signed up for Netflix and saw my first documentary on gmos, then one insane corporate endeavor after another - all destroying my water, my forests, my air. Chemtrails in my skies spreading out and mucking the blue away. So, much that is wrong.
About the same time I went through a civil law suit that took two years and nearly all of my money to endure. I represented myself, often working over 40 hours a week to meet the demands of opposing counsel and won the suit. Two weeks after I won, in a judgement authored by the prosecutor and signed by the judge, I was found guilty of a technicality out of context that I was not allowed to speak to and had to pay all of the legal fees from the beginning. I had kept excellent records and had shown conclusively that the plaintiff was lying. My brother, the plaintiff, received only $10, 000 more than he would have received anyway, but I had to pay all of his legal fees - on a technicality on an amended judgement.
Until then, I was a proud American who believed in our legal system, that if you lived lawfully and honestly, you had nothing to fear from the law. I now agree with one of the three attorneys I had worked with: the law is broken.
When Occupy came to my attention, I was excited and enthusiastic. I believe in the people and that we are part of a world community that includes Nature and all it's diverse creation. I can not lie down and do nothing. I choose to stand.
