Most importantly, I would like to get the author's explanation. As a born-again Christian, these lyrics pique my interest and need to understand more about them. I think mankind finds himself living in a "surface" trap. If only we could look beyond the image of our lives this world would create and them feed back to us, but rather to see a loving God's plans and purpose for us. Then, in response, we would live out the higher life He has for us: a life of righteousness, holiness, and love for God and each other. At the same time, getting off the rat race this world would try to force on us.
