I think that this song is about a relationship where one of the person is cheating or hurting their partner and they know that they were and are hurting them. They eventually starts to feel bad that they done all those bad things. Because the person that was hurt never hurt them all the while they just took it in and still love that person. Because of this the person that is hurting their special one comes to the resolve where that they will still love that person even if they one day leave them and don't love them anymore.
