Its about love at first sight (i don't know you but I want you all the more for that) and making the tough decision to just let go and let love in (well you have suffered enough and warred with yourself, it's time that you won). "Falling slowly, eyes that know me, and i can't go back," tells of a lover falling for another. "Take this sinking boat and point it home, we've still got time," says don't let love go (sinking boat), let it into our hearts (point it home), it's not too late (we've still got time). "Raise your hopeful voice, you have a choice, you've made it now," this urges the lover to speak up and say what's on their mind. "Falling slowly, sing your melody, i'll sing along," represents the union of the two lovers.
