I really do love this song. Airborne Toxic Event are lyricists, and that is one of their several talents that keeps me hooked to their music. Now, as for this song itself, the meaning is quite complex. Like any song the meaning can change person to person. For me, the words and music state that the song is about finally just hitting rock bottom, and not knowing where to go from there. Yet, something is going to happen, you can feel it in your core. Though, you don't know what to expect, and this frustrates you, so you beat yourself up for it. It's about just leaving everything behind, and trying to start over, but every time you do, it just doesn't work. You hit rock bottom, over and over again. So you wish, for only the better. So you're at the bottom, and all you have left are your wishes. You try to run, but nothing works. Then, the very thing that pushed you to the bottom, comes back to you, and explains that it too has hit rock bottom, and no longer are you desperate, and destroyed. It's better to be lonely with someone else, rather than by yourself. Misery loves company.
