I think yhe song is about a child that loved and wanted a relationship with her mom. Torn from emotions that made her feel alone she decided to make away for herself, although she still felt deep love for that person whom nearly destroyed her. I lost my daughter in 2014 because she felt the same about her biological mom who left when she was just a toddler. She never got over it, she was always sad and lonely. "I Remember"
