When I hear this song my heart feels a surge of sadness and defiance. I imagine a Sioux warrior in his last charge against the white men who massacred his whole family and village. I imagine him knowing he is going to die, but he is dead alredy, they took all from him. Soon all Soiux will be herded into reservations and their way of life will be gone too. He charges death to let these men know they cannot take his spirit which is forever free and his pride which he will not surrender. "We ride tonight. We ride tonight...on ghost horses"
