This song is sung and written about a girl from another person's perspective. The writer is telling the girl that is afraid to love because she doesn't believe in love. She's lost hope because of life's setbacks, she's been through a lot of pain/rejection and is still trying to deal with all her past pain/hurt/rejection. She can't really have faith in love when she's been hurt so much in the past. She's watching the outside world while someone's talking to her, trying to tell her something.
