This is a hard one to understand. I think it means she is in a unhealthy relationship. She has been "tied down" and wants to break free. She wants more positive thoughts. I don't know what it could mean by saying "...if we should pay". In the end, she says that holding on is harder than not leaving the relationship. Maybe I think it means this because I just freed myself from a bad relationship.
