Steven Bell, If you were speaking about Skillet's Awake album, I would almost completely agree with you, although even some songs on there were highly Christian-based. With this specific song (maybe not the whole album, but it's definitely better lyrically than Awake was), it's obvious who John Cooper is singing about. I think we as Christians get so judgmental when we hear bands not directly reference Jesus or God. We sing worship songs in church that do the same thing. There's nothing wrong with singing about relationships and girls either, is that unglorifying (not a word but bear with me) or putting down God? I don't see how it is. They use their last album to go mainstream, I wasn't initially happy with it either, then they come out with a song like this, and a non-christian can easily tell what this song was intended for. Not only that, but Skillet has made a worship album, so someone who gets into Skillet now that wants to see their old music as well, you never know! So here's my point, just because a song does not talk about God, it doesn't make it an evil or bad song. There are lines that shouldn't be crossed for that of course, but I don't think we need to worry about where Skillet's faith really lies, especially when they display it in concert, and don't forget how many people show up at those concerts as well.
