The man can't move on. He waits day and night for a girl who has clearly abandoned him. He is lost. He has no where to go. She was his home, his familiar place of security; when she left, she took everything.
I take it to my own personal beliefs that she will never come, he is forever waiting, hoping, and wasting his last breaths on one-sided love, killing himself, losing everything that made him, him. He is no more but desperate.
