My opinion is that the two are more than friends, but they want to hide it from the tormenters and want to stay private for the time being. In the first part, they are technically 'just friends' escalating to 'crushes' in the second verse. In verse 3 they are saying, either by dream or real life, that they get so in love that they get married. The chorus is talking about everyone that teases them about being a couple.
