I'm gonna go with "case" but if you look at it he is trapped in the world between world like the movie "The Invisible" the kid they all thought was dead or the kid who tried to kill himself with the pills but had a seizure then his parents walk in the room then call the ambulance would more correct but really wasn't he sorta trapped there then he realizes that it is not his time to go.
