I think that the singer is in love with the girl who is being abused by her girlfriend. The singer was hurt to see the girl hurt, and was more hurt to see her trying to cover it up, because she accepts the beatings, as long as the her boyfriend sticks with her. And the guy doesn't give a damn about her. And the singer goes to confront the girl's boyfriend and encourages the girl to dump his boyfriend.
