If we look into jason's words, it's obvious to see that he is yearning for help. He's stuck on the ground, unable to get off his feet without falling back down. The song is one with which a person may easily identify. Questioning his actions, the lyrics seem to put the person at a place of desperation for god's love and perseverance. The message seems to be without god's help (depending on our own), we may meet many low points, but if we rely on and trust fully in god, then we can overcome the greatest feats (even if our faith is as small as a mustard seed, we can move mountains matthew 17: 16-21).
