Mark Harris – Find Your Wings lyrics
It's only for a moment you are mine to hold
The plans that heaven has for you
Will all too soon unfold

So many different prayers I'll pray
For all that you might do
But most of all I'll want to know
You're walking in the truth

And If I never told you
I want you to know
As I watch you grow

Chorus:
I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things
I'm here for you whatever this life brings
So let my love give you roots
And help you find your wings

May
passion be the wind
That leads you through your days
And may conviction keep you strong
Guide you on your way
May there be many moments
That make your life so sweet
Oh, but more than memories

Chorus:

It's not living if you don't reach for the sky
I'll
have tears as you take off
But I'll cheer as you fly

Chorus:
×

It's a parent talking to a child about the fact that they only have them for a short time. After that time the plans god has for them will unfold and their paths may separate and, although it hurts like mad, the parent is giving their best wishes for the child to spread their wings and fly in god's great plan for their life. It's more scary to keep our children from pursuing god's will than it is to let them be free to go for it. During their time with us, it's our responsibility to train them to know the leading of god for themselves and to walk in his ways.

The song "Find Your Wings" reflects the crystallized thoughts of parents for their children; parents often worry about the future of their children; perhaps they are over concerned about their success and their ultimate destiny - the most poignant part of the lyrics of the song "it's not living if you do not reach for the sky"; as if to say what is the point of your living if you have not taken heavy challenges and not ventured into the "unknown, unchartered undiscovered areas of your life; "I will have tears as you take off" is one side of their feelings and "but I will cheer as you fly off" is the other side - antithetical but still intertwined inextricably; to present such a beautiful paradox, blending poignancy with love, constitutes the beauty of the song lyrics.

I hear this song and I know that I am doing the right thing in giving my son up for adoption. I pray that once he is born and meets his adoptive parents that he will know I love him more than life itself and that he has the courage to pursue his dreams and know that he has two moms and a dad that will always be there for him no matter what trials and tribulations he may face. Mommy loves you, ethan.

The baby eagle (eaglet) is simply pushed (last help!) as soon as it hatches out of its egg by the mother eagle; after that the baby eagle has to fend for itself to survive; the mother eagle flies off; unlike, the mother hen who keeps her chicks folded within her wings, and is with them wherever they go. This presents a contrast why a eagle is an eagle, the king of all birds, and meant for the skies, and a chicken only a chicken. By contrast, both have wings, but the eagle finds them much early in life because the circumstances make it to do so; the chickens are happy to be in the farms protected by their mother, and even though they have wings, they never learn to use them; in fact they "never find their wings". Perhaps this seems to be the most poignant message in the lyrics of the song; not that the mother eaglet is less affectionate towards her new born offspring, but the most "loving" lesson that she wants her new offspring to learn is to learn to accept trials and adversity as a way of life and living; may all our children who are struggling in their careers may ultimately "find their wings".

Beautiful and inspiring lyrics; there is strong motivational strain in the words urging the reader to persevere in times of adversity and trials and set his goals in life even beyond the capacities he normally thinks he has; they build up his sense of self-esteem and great fortitude in life; I hope it acts as a strong stimulant for those who are depressed; for my son who is in his struggle phase in his career, may god help him to tide through these moments.

My only child/son will be graduating from cchs (central catholic high school; all boys school) next month. By the grace of god, he is going off to college to case western reserve university (full scholarship). I'll be singing/playing guitar to this song @ our last mother/son liturgy banquet on 5/6/12, during meditation, while each son is passing along a blessed cross to their mom's. This is the 4th and final mother/son banquet we will attend. I can't think of a better fitting song & words that each of us moms & dads are praying for their sons/children. Thank you mark harris for this amazing song; it has truly blessed all of us!

My oldest son is at boot camp for the marines. His decision was tough on his dad and I but we support him 100%. If you are reading this, please pray for him. His name is blake and we have no contact with him except letters. He had some problems before he went and he was wanting to change his life. My youngest son is mark and he just made an important decision about his life. It is hard growing up and I want my children and every one I come into contact with to know the love of god.

This song means to me that the children God gifts to us are ours for a short time and we will send them off in the world before we know it. We need to prepare them to be sure they are strong and convicted in the Word of God and that they are passionate for what is right and they go in to the world showing others the way. As our children make their way in the world we are sad to see them go but will always be there to love and support and cheer them through their lives. If my children grow to be true believers and live their lives focused on God I will die happy.

The song and its lyrics describe the pathos of a sample parent; it could be even the grandparents, the school, the Alma mater, or anyone who is entrusted with the care and responsibility of a child/ children; children as they grow up are in need of great counselling and guidance; often they flounder for lack of someone who could motivate them and inspire them to greater and nobler achievements in life; I think these lyrics are to be embossed on their chests in bold and golden letters as the anthem of their very lives; play the song whenever your child is depressed; it will definitely stir him from within; it will dispel the clouds of fear and doubt and help him to see the light of success.
